The Washington Commanders dropped their first preseason game to the New York Jets, 20-17, after a last-minute field goal.
While the Commanders opened the preseason with a loss, it was a mostly positive day for Washington. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels played one series but completed two of his three passes for 45 yards, including a beautiful 42-yard strike to Dyami Brown, and also scored a rushing touchdown.
Other rookies flashed, too, such as tight end Ben Sinnott and running back Michael Wiley.
