Prior to the 2021 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys signed star quarterback Dak Prescott to a lucrative contract extension. One year later, they appear to be asking Dak to effectively take one for the team.
According to ProFootballTalk, the Cowboys are working with Dak on restructuring his contract to offer some cap relief. Dallas are reportedly over $13 million in the red on cap space, per OverTheCap.
Dak has a $34.5 million cap number in 2022 and accounts for over 15-percent of the team’s cap room. Adjusting his contract in some way would certainly have the potential to put Dallas in the black.
But NFL fans don’t believe it should be Dak making any sort of sacrifice for the team. Some believe that Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott should make that sacrifice first.
What about Zeke? Lol https://t.co/AvJAE69Jh9

Others are just rolling their eyes, saying that this was predictable when the contract was first signed.
Anyone who saw his original contract knew this would happen a year ago https://t.co/O4WjE7hASm

Dak Prescott is coming off a career-year for the Dallas Cowboys. He went 11-5 as a starter, throwing for a career-high 37 touchdowns and leading Dallas to the NFC East title.
But the Cowboys were promptly eliminated in the playoffs at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. And in the weeks that followed there were all kinds of complaints over who or what was responsible for their quick elimination.
The Cowboys are going to be making some sacrifices in this offseason – that’s not even debatable anymore.
Will Dak Prescott make a change to his contract to benefit the Cowboys?
