Head coach Ron Rivera has spoken of changing the culture of the WFT.
When looking at what he has inherited, is there anything more that needs to be changed (on the field) than how Washington has performed on Monday Night Football?
While the players have changed many times over in 25 seasons, mysteriously it’s the same results on MNF.
Washington last won a MNF game in 2012, beating the NY Giants 17-16.
And in this century, yes, I counted, they are 5-23 on MNF. It’s been awful, dreadful, horrible.
How can one franchise be so bad on MNF for so long?
And playing at Fed Ex Field on MNF?
Remember the MNF Massacre when the Eagles came to Fed Ex in 2010 and won 59-28?
How about Jim Zorn attempting the Swinging Gate not once, but twice in a 2009 45-12 thumping?
Or when Robert Griffin looked completely lost in the pocket, in a 2013, 27-6 loss to the 49ers?
Recall Russell Wilson running for over 100 yards in a 27-17 loss to Seattle in 2014?
How about Week 1 in 2016 when the secondary couldn’t cover anyone, losing 38-16 to the Steelers?
Hey, Ron Rivera and Carolina even came to Fed Ex Field a touchdown underdog in 2016, yet easily won 26-15!
The last one, I promise, the last time the WFT appeared on MNF at Fed Ex Field, the Bears really made them look bad (31-15) in 2019.
And I haven’t even mentioned a single MNF road-game disaster, and I am not going there either.
Enough is enough.
I am ready for the Ron Rivera culture change to replace the old MNF culture of discouraging national TV losses.
