What does Chris Cooley think of new Commanders TE Ben Sinnott?

“He is what Joe Gibbs used to call an H-back; he’s versatile,” added Cooley.

Cooley said what he really liked initially about Sinnott was that he is flexible. The Commanders will be able to split Sinnott out wide. He can play in a tight split, a wing split, full back, tight, and next to the quarterback in the shotgun. Cooley concluded that K-State using Sinnott in so many positions reveals the young man is an intelligent player.

Pointing to his 4.68 at the Scouting Combine, Cooley praised his running of routes, “He is clearly a big-time target,” saying it was fun to watch him.

Cooley also praised Sinnott for being a hands-catcher of the ball rather than a chest-catcher. The former Washington tight end loved Sinnott’s ability to catch the ball at the high point and praised his vertical jumping ability.

As for a weakness? Cooley feels Sinnott in his blocking needs some work in his hands and footwork early on in a block, saying he was not technically sound in some of the film.

However, Cooley was also quick to say that Sinnott made many good blocks. Thus, he was encouraged, saying Sinnott is certainly willing to block and will therefore improve his technique as his NFL career progresses.

“I will tell you right now, Joe Gibbs would love Ben Sinnott. This would be his guy. He would draft this guy. This is his H-back who can play receiver and tight end. He is a versatile tight end.”

Washington Commanders Landed Most Top 50 Prospects in NFL Draft

The Commanders continue to receive praise for the 2024 NFL Draft haul.

According to SCOUTD, the Commanders had the most selections out of their top 50 prospects on their big board. Each of their first four additions was among the top 50 on their big board. Last year, the team with the most top-50 selections was the Detroit Lions, who made the NFC Championship.

The Lions’ success and value in the draft helped them to continue and turn things around in Detroit, building a contender around Jared Goff and the rest of the roster. The Commanders could now be on the same path in terms of turning things around.

With Daniels under center, Commanders offensive coordinator is going to be able to get creative with the offense, especially with two solid weapons in Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson as the two wideouts. The team also added wide receiver Luke McCaffrey and Sinnott as a target at tight end through the draft.

NFL Draft Grades: Analyzing the Cowboys’ picks

Eyes on the NFC East.

Tyler Guyton, Offensive Tackle, Oklahoma

Cowboys Outlook: The Cowboys are great at reloading along the offensive line and Guyton is likely going to take over at right tackle sooner than later. Getting quality snaps under his belt will be crucial. He might have some growing pains in the NFL, but his upside is very high.

Marshawn Kneeland, Edge, Western Michigan

Cowboys Outlook: The Cowboys have a great stable of pass rushers, allowing them to be patient with Marshawn Kneeland. Kneeland can be a rotational player and learn a thing or two from Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.

Cooper Beebe, Guard, Kansas State

Cowboys Outlook: Cooper Beebe can and should start at either guard position as a rookie. He will have a long NFL career.

Marist Liufau, Linebacker, Notre Dame

Cowboys Outlook: The Cowboys love fast linebackers who can cover a ton of ground at the expense of being high-impact run defenders. Liufau might be best served as a nickel linebacker to start his career and then maybe develop into a three-down defender.

Caelen Carson, Cornerback, Wake Forest

Cowboys Outlook: Carson projects as a slot defender in the NFL. His plus run defense will be an asset closer to the play and his lack of speed can be insulated a lot more. Carson could see meaningful snaps earlier in his career despite being a late round pick.

J.J. Watt: I told DeMeco Ryans I’ll play if the Texans need me

Watt said at his charity softball game on Saturday that he let Ryans know he’ll play for the Texans if they think he’d make the difference for him.

“I’ve had 12 great years in this league and I’m very thankful to have walked away healthy and playing great,” Watt said. “I told DeMeco last year, I said, ‘Don’t call unless you absolutely need it, but if you ever do call, I’ll be there.’ And he knows not to call unless he absolutely needs it. This is the last year I’ll tell him that, because I’m not going to keep training the way I’ve been training, but he knows that if he ever truly does need it, I’ll be there for him. I don’t anticipate that happening — they’ve got a very good group.”
