Dan Quinn gives some injury updates, and talks about playing the Eagles on a short week

November 12, 2024 by Hogs Haven

Dan Quinn speaks to the media before practice

Dan Quinn spoke to the media before Washington’s second practice of the week, but their first real practice after yesterday’s walkthrough. He said today would be a mock game before they really ramp up tomorrow, especially for some players coming back from injuries. Brian Robinson Jr. and Cornelius Lucas have both missed the last two games, and they’ll both practice today. Lucas hasn’t practiced since injuring his ankle almost two weeks ago, so this is progress for the veteran tackle. Robinson has been limited in practice, but held out of the last two games with his hamstring injury.

Quinn also said that three injured players won’t practice again today. The Commanders traded for former Saints CB Marshon Lattimore at the trade deadline, but he is still dealing with a hamstring injury that held him out of his last game with New Orleans. It continues to look like he won’t be ready to play until the Cowboys game in 12 days. Quinn also talk about Lattimore being a bright veteran who’s played a lot of football. He said Marshon has been picking up their terminology and he’d be ready to play in their defense whenever his hamstring is ready.

Kicker Austin Seibert missed last week’s game with a right hip injury, and he didn’t practice again today. Washington signed Zane Gonzalez to the practice squad, and he was perfect on the day. He can be elevated two more times before he would need to be signed to the 53-man roster. Special teams LB Nick Bellore injured his knee on Sunday, and is also out today. Quinn was asked about Jamison Crowder being activated from IR after Olamide Zaccheaus muffed two punts, but there weren’t any immediate plans to open his 21-day practice window.

Saquon Barkley:

On Saquon Barkley, Quinn called the RB an incredible player. Highlighted his ability to start and stop with an explosive nature

Dan Quinn on Eagles DT Jalen Carter: “When you have those big fellas that have that twitch like a smaller guy, that’s hard to find.”

Thursday night games:

I asked Dan Quinn what, if any, impact the late bye week brings: “there’s challenges that go with that…If a position group, may have more vulnerability to injuries than other than you do have to adjust your practices having a Thursday game” full answer below. pic.twitter.com/yYgpOxl32P

— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) November 12, 2024

Quinn: “Having a Thursday game does favor a group like ours; really a tough-minded group. If I told them it would be on a Wednesday they’d be down for it.”

— John Keim (@john_keim) November 12, 2024

Quinn says his group will be ready to play. Would play on Wednesday if they had to. Also said there is no conversation about standings and playoffs. “I want to enjoy every step of the journey with this group.”

Kliff Kingsbury:

The Offensive coordinator shuffle.

Bears fired their OC today
Raiders fired their OC last week.

Washington is in great shape with Kliff Kingsbury.

I asked Dan Quinn today about Kliff.

DQ said, “if you think that all of our playbook has been seen, you would be mistaken.” pic.twitter.com/z9GUGf2zWm

— Scott Abraham (@Scott7news) November 12, 2024

Dan Quinn praised OC Kliff Kingsbury for what he’s done with the offense so far, how he’s helped develop guys, his creativity, etc. “If you think that all of our playbook has been seen, you would be mistaken,” Quinn said.
