Dan Quinn speaks to the media before the start of mandatory minicamp
The Washington Commanders are in Ashburn, VA for this year’s mandatory minicamp. This will be the last time the entire team and coaching staff is together until the start of training camp next month. Terry McLaurin isn’t there as he is negotiating for a new deal. Head coach Dan Quinn addressed that, and other issues heading into today’s practice as he spoke to the media. He said sometimes football and business intersect, and this is one of those times. He’s confident that this will be resolved by GM Adam Peters, and said he’s spent time with the team this offseason.
McLaurin skipped that last two phases of OTAs along with fellow veterans Laremy Tunsil and Marshon Lattimore. They are at today’s practice and Quinn said it was good to meet Tunsil’s family to get to know his new left tackle’s family. Lattimore doesn’t have any restrictions during minicamp which is good news after he dealt with a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for multiple games last season.
Brandon Coleman was the team’s starting left tackle for most of last season, but he’ll likely be moving inside to guard with the trade for Tunsil, and drafting Oregon tackle Josh Conerly Jr who is expected to play right tackle. Quinn said Coleman is very versatile, and has the size and athleticism to play both guard and tackle.
