Dan Quinn speaks to the media for “Tell the Truth Monday”
Dan Quinn spoke to the media for “Tell the Truth Monday”, but he must have been having a bad hair day and no video was provided by the team. TE Zach Ertz and S Jeremy Chinn are both in the concussion protocol. Washington is preparing to host the Philadelphia Eagles for a big division game on Sunday, and we’ll have to see if they’ve made progress when the team has their first practice on Wednesday.
Zane Gonzalez was dealing with a left foot injury and he was inactive for yesterday’s game against the Saints. He was limited on Wednesday, but was a full participant the rest of the week. Quinn said the team was still concerned about his plant foot, and playing on the turf of the Superdome. Greg Joseph was signed to the practice squad on Thursday, and he went 2/3 on field goals, missing a 54-yarder. Quinn said that Gonzalez will be the kicker if he’s ready to play on Sunday.
The running game has to get better, and Tyler Biadasz being out was an issue for Washington on Sunday. Quinn said that he’s feeling better, and the fever has gone down. He should be available this week, putting Michael Deiter back on the bench. Brian Robinson got enough carries, but the running game needs to be more efficient.
Quinn said there were a lot of reasons for the team allowing 8 sacks vs the Saints. Some of them were 0-yard scramble by Jayden Daniels. He also said there’s a fine line between scrambling and throwing it away. Washington also got penalized on the other side of the ball when Dante Fowler Jr was hit with two roughing the passer penalties. Quinn said he’s got to go lower on shorter QBs.
Quinn’s still taking the high road on the numerous “inconsistencies” in the refereeing and clock management yesterday…

Zane Gonzalez:
On kicker, Quinn said Zane Gonzalez was close to playing but the team didn’t feel it was the right call to put him out there on the turf. If healthy, Gonzalez is the kicker.
— Zach Selby (@ZachSelbyWC) December 16, 2024
Dan Quinn said Zane Gonzalez did not kick yesterday because there was still an issue planting on his left foot. Said when he’s ready, he’ll be the kicker.

Marshon Lattimore:
Lattimore was not on the stats sheet yesterday as he had zero receptions allowed on zero targets. When there’s less attention on you at CB, Quinn said, that’s a sign you had a good game

Sacks allowed vs the Saints:
On the sacks, Quinn said there’s a fine line between choosing to scramble and throw it away. A couple of the eight sacks were scrambles for zero yards, which register as sacks. Quinn also said that the number of sacks allowed were not all on one person

Dyami Brown:
Quinn was pleased with Dyami Brown yesterday, Quinn said. Made a really aggressive play on his fourth-quarter catch that was eliminated by a holding call
— Zach Selby (@ZachSelbyWC) December 16, 2024
Brian Robinson:
Quinn thought that Brian Robinson got “enough” touches yesterday, but would love to see the offense run the ball more effectively. That goes to all 11 players on the unit, not from the times that they called it, but on the execution

Tyler Biadasz:
Quinn expects Tyler Biadasz to be available this weekend against the Eagles. He’s feeling better and his fever is going down

Complaining/Changing:
Quinn said: “A lot of people can bitch and complain about stuff… rather than fight and find a way. There will be bad breaks, bad calls. That’s life. You can bitch about it [or you can] go get it done.”
— John Keim (@john_keim) December 16, 2024
Dante Fowler Jr’s roughing the passer penalties:
Dan Quinn on roughing calls against Dante Fowler – “you have to get lower…It can be frustrating for sure.” Gotta adjust for shorter QBs
