Dan Quinn answers questions after the Washington Commanders loss
The Washington Commanders lost their first preseason game to the New York Jets 20-17. Jayden Daniels scored in the lone drive of his NFL debut, and Dan Quinn said the rookie signal caller didn’t ask permission before checking out of the called play, instead hitting Dyami Brown for a 42-yard completion on 3rd down. He compared it to the scene from Top Gun, “Do I have permission to buzz the tower”.
Washington was missing several of their starting offensive linemen which could have been a factor in Daniels’ limited playing time. Quinn finally provided an update on rookie LT Brandon Coleman who has missed several practices. He said Coleman is day-to-day or week-to-week with a pec/shoulder injury. Coleman had been taking 1st team snaps in training camp, and would likely be replaced by Cornelius Lucas there, but he was out today for personal reasons.
