Dan Quinn announces Jayden Daniels is officially QB1
The expected announcement happened, Dan Quinn named Jayden Daniels as the Week 1 starter. He said the rookie QB earner the starting job, and hit all the markers the team had set for him throughout the offseason and preseason. Daniels had his best practice before the team went to Miam for a joint practice and preseason game. He’s a rare competitor who has had a remarkable start to his NFL career.
Quinn was asked a non-Jayden Daniels question about the injury to rookie LB Jordan Magee. He suffered a meniscus injury and had surgery on his knee, but it’s not season-ending. Quinn said that rookies LT Brandon Coleman (shoulder/pec) and DT Johnny Newton (foot/soft tissue) would be at practice this week, and Coleman was further along in his return to full participation.

@Commanders DQ, says Jayden has to just be himself and do his job and not necessarily be the leader of the team. There are others that are emerging as those guys also. He mentioned Mike Sainristil also.

Telling Daniels he earned the starting job:
Dan Quinn told Jayden Daniels earlier today that he was naming him QB1. They met to go over some pre-game prep — Quinn asked Daniels to think of things he would change with warmups, the process before games, etc. — and informed him after of the pending announcement. Quinn told…
