Dan Quinn speaks to the media before practice
Today is the last training camp in front of the fans. The Washington Commanders will be having a joint practice with the New York Jets on Thursday as both teams prepare for their preseason game in New Jersey on Saturday. The team’s first unofficial depth chart is getting released this morning, and rookie QB Jayden Daniels and LT Brandon Coleman are both listed as the starters, and will get the start vs the Jets. Head coach Dan Quinn said they both earned the right to start this weekend. He praised Daniels for learning the offense, and said people gravitate torwards him. Daniels has exceeded his expectations, something Quinn has said several times, and repeated it again today.

Dan Quinn time.

Depth chart:
Dan Quinn jokes about upcoming first depth chart release, says Commanders PR boss “Sean had a big part in that….If I had a real depth chart right now I’d probably have 15 starters.”

Quarterbacks:
Dan Quinn on QBs – “Some may play more in practice than they play in the game.” Translation – Jayden gets a ton of work vs Jets in joint practice and not a ton in preseason. Driskell and Hartman will get lots of work in the game

QB1 Jayden Daniels:
Jayden Daniels is QB1 on the Commanders’ first unofficial depth chart released today. He will start Saturday’s preseason game against the Jets.

LT1 Brandon Coleman:
Jayden Daniels is QB1 on the Commanders’ first unofficial depth chart released today. He will start Saturday’s preseason game against the Jets.

Like Daniels, Coleman will start against the Jets. “Both he and Jayden have earned that right,” Dan Quinn said.

Jayden Daniels surpassing expectations:
Quinn said Jayden Daniels has “surpassed my expectations of the readiness, of the command” of the position. Said he’s not surprised Daniels knows the system given how he works. Said teammates gravitate toward him.

Emmanuel Forbes:
Emmanuel Forbes listed as reserve on Commanders 1st depth chart, but Dan Quinn says this is just the beginning of competition. Throughout camp the top 4 CBs have rotated regularly
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) August 6, 2024
Emmanuel Forbes listed as a reserve on the depth chart. A true competition at CB. Forbes, though, typically has worked with the first group during 11-11 work. St-Juste, Davis and Sainristil all in the mix. Sainristil has worked mostly in the slot, where he excelled in college
