Dan Quinn speaks before rookie mini-camp
The Washington Commanders are back in Ashburn today for the second day of rookie mini-camp. Head Coach Dan Quinn spoke to the media before today’s practice and gave an update on second-round pick Johnny Newton. He was seen at yesterday’s practice wearing a boot on his left foot. Quinn confirmed that this is a new injury to his other foot. Newton played through a Jones fracture during his last season at Illinois and had surgery in January. He will have surgery for a similar injury in his other foot, and Quinn didn’t give a timeline for his recovery. He said the new foot injury was discovered during the followup process for his other foot.

Dan Quinn says 2nd rounder Johnny Newton has an injury to his other foot, not the same foot as his college season but the same injury, and has a procedure scheduled for next week. “Not giving any timelines for that.”
