Dan Quinn speaks to the media before practice
Dan Quinn spoke to reporters before today’s practice, and gave some updates before the Washington Commanders travel to New Orleans to face the Saints. He named a new set of team captains for this week, and lauded Trent Scott for getting his Master’s degree from Grambling University today. Washington’s other two captains for Week 15 are Cornelius Lucas and Jer’Zhan Newton.
Marshon Lattimore will make his Washington debut on Sunday, and will get the start vs the team that traded at this year’s deadline. Quinn said this has been a culmination of the work he’s put in over the last 5 weeks to return from a hamstring injury. He mentioned strength, top speed work, change of direction, and flexibility as markers that he’s met to return to the field. Quinn was asked if he would start in place of Benjamin St-Juste, who has split time with Michael Davis recently. Quinn would only say Lattimore would start, but wouldn’t go into lineup details. The Commanders released former first round pick Emmanuel Forbes, and have been starting rookie Mike Sainristil with Noah Igbinoghene in the slot.
Washington has signed 7 kickers so far this season. Dan Quinn said Zane Gonzalez showed up on the injury report(left foot) Wednesday so they brought Greg Joseph in for a workout. Gonzalez was a full-go yesterday, but he wanted to “protect the team” by adding another kicker. Quinn credited assistant GM Lance Newmark with keeping up with the available kickers.

Practice squad WR/RB Kaz Allen hurt his ankle this week and is wearing a walking boot.
I asked Quinn if they are considering elevating Allen or RB Michael Wiley at some point for that speed element.
“Yes.”
