San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is on the injury report as the wide receiver battles an unspecified illness. However, despite the designation, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the wide receiver should be “good to go” as the team battles the New York Giants. While this isn’t official by any stretch of the imagination, it’s safe to assume that, barring a setback, the former second-round pick will suit up and help make life easier for quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Deebo Samuel Injury Update: Commanders WR Expected to Play Against Giants
The Washington Commanders are out of the playoff race, but they should still be excited to have Deebo Samuel on the field and not sidelined due to his injury. Acquired from the San Francisco 49ers in the offseason, the South Carolina product has been one of the few positive parts of an otherwise disappointing and underwhelming season. Appearing in 12 games while making eight starts, the wide receiver has recorded 62 receptions for 561 yards and five touchdowns through his first season with the Washington Commanders.
Despite Samuel’s relatively strong play, the Commanders themselves are one of the league’s bigger disappointments. After making it to the NFC Championship Game last year, Washington entered the 2025 season with Super Bowl aspirations. The team started off on the right football, going 2-1 through their first two games. However, the wheels quickly fell off the wagon, and the team currently sits near of the NFC East with a 3-10 record. Instead of competing for a championship, they’re in the race for a top-five pick.
The Giants and Commanders met earlier in the season, with Washington defeating their division rival 21-6. However, while Jayden Daniels and Russell Wilson started that game, Marcus Mariota will face off against first-round pick Jaxson Dart on Sunday.
