Will the Cowboys release Amari Cooper? That appears to be the “million dollar question” in Dallas this week.
Last week, it was reported that Cooper would be released by the start of the new league year. A few days later, NFL insider Josina Anderson said the Cowboys won’t make an immediate move when it comes to the Pro Bowl wideout.
On Friday morning, ESPN’s Ed Werder had an update on this situation. It turns out the Cowboys are still exploring all their options.
“Team still working on Amari Cooper options while hoping a new contract for Michael Gallup is soon finished,” Werder announced on Twitter.
Werder also provided an update on Demarcus Lawrence. Despite rumors about a potential release, Lawrence isn’t “going anywhere” this offseason.

Losing a player like Cooper would certainly hurt the Cowboys’ passing attack, but the front office knew it would have some tough decisions to make heading into this offseason.
Cooper finished this past season with 68 catches for 865 yards and eight touchdowns.
If Cooper is released or traded this offseason, the pressure will be on Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb to carry Dallas’ receiving corps.
