The Washington Commanders entered the 2024 NFL draft with nine selections. Six of those selections came in the first three rounds, giving general manager Adam Peters a prime opportunity to refresh a 4-13 roster. The Commanders kicked things off by selecting dynamic LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels.
Peters and coach Dan Quinn went into the draft with a specific type of player in mind. First, leadership was important, as seven of the nine picks were college captains. However, the most important trait was athleticism. While all of the Commanders’ early selections were excellent athletes with high-level production, Peters spent his final three picks on players with at least one elite trait. Per Next Gen Stats, Washington had the most athletic class in the draft.
Using Kent Lee Platte’s Relative Athletic Score metric, we analyze the RAS score for each of Washington’s nine picks.
