The Cleveland Browns made a huge splash this Saturday afternoon, acquiring Amari Cooper in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys.
According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cowboys are sending Cooper and a sixth-round pick to the Browns. In return, they are receiving a fifth and sixth-round pick from the 2022 draft.
Cooper has a base salary of $20 million for the 2022 season. Now that he’s on board, the Browns may decided to clear some cap space by parting ways with a different wide receiver on their roster.
Once the Cooper news broke, NFL analysts and fans started speculating about Jarvis Landry’s future with the Browns.
Welp. We were told the Browns were going to be big players in the free-agent WR market. Instead, Andrew Berry decided to control the variables by trading for Amari Cooper. Big Deal. Jarvis Landry’s fate now seems all but sealed.

One would thinks this confirms the obvious about Jarvis Landry’s football future, but stranger things have happened I guess.

Last month, Landry commented on his future with the Browns. In a lengthy rant on Twitter, he said that he’d like to remain in Cleveland.
“I have put the ball in CLE court by telling them I would like to stay but if not then I’m confident enough in myself to be a better healthy me this year and moving forward to helping do my part in winning a championship elsewhere,” Landry said.
Landry is entering the final year of his five-year, $75.5 million contract with the Browns. If he does get released this offseason, there will most likely be a solid market for him.
