Florida Reportedly Dealing With Multiple Significant Injuries

The Florida Gators football team are getting in some of their first practices of spring this month. Unfortunately, they’re already dealing with a slew of injuries at a key position.

According to 247Sports, two Florida tight ends are dealing with injuries that will sideline them for the rest of spring. Freshman Nick Elksnis and sophomore Jonathan Odom are dealing with a broken scapula and torn labrum respectively.

Odom tweeted over the weekend that he plans to undergo surgery this coming week. But neither injury is currently expected to end their seasons before it begins.

The injuries to Elksnis and Odom leaves Florida with two tight ends under scholarship. As a result, first-year head coach Billy Napier is reportedly moving defensive end Dante Zanders and linebacker Noah Keeter to tight end to through the spring.

Florida tight ends Nick Elksnis (broken scapula) and Jonathan Odom (torn labrum) will miss the remainder of the Gators’ spring practices, a source told Swamp247 this afternoon. More on their injuries and the team’s tight end situation here:https://t.co/fO7bGhO4fM pic.twitter.com/M0qC4epOOz

2022 might be a difficult year for the Florida Gators. While they have yet another strong recruiting class, the Gators have to contend with reigning national champion and arch-rival Georgia, who are among the favorites to win it all.

Billy Napier should be up to the task thanks to his superb experience. He’s one of the few coaches in America to have worked under both Nick Saban and Dabo Sweeney.

But if injuries start mounting this early, no amount of experience will be enough to get the Gators back into contention.

Will Florida overcome these injuries and get back to their winning ways early in the tournament?
