There has been a lot of smoke surrounding Deebo Samuel’s future with the San Francisco 49ers, and understandably so. Just about every team in the league would love to acquire a versatile wideout like him.
Ever since Samuel went public with his trade request, the New York Jets, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers have been mentioned as potential suitors.
Former NFL executive Andrew Brandt, however, doesn’t believe Samuel is going anywhere this offseason.
On Friday, Pro Football Focus tweeted: “Who will win the Deebo Samuel sweepstakes?” Brandt responded, “The 49ers.”

It’s been reported that Samuel isn’t fond of his current role with the 49ers. During the 2021 season, the former second-round pick was used as a running back and wide receiver.
“Deebo Samuel wants to be a receiver and not a receiver/running back,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said in an interview with Rich Eisen. “His rushing attempts were significantly up last season from where they’ve been in the past.”
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, meanwhile, hinted that Samuel’s frustration may stem from the 49ers not offering him a contract extension.
Whatever the reason may be, the reality is the 49ers want to keep Samuel. He’s such a great fit in Kyle Shanahan’s offense and locker room.
Will the 49ers be able to mend their relationship with Samuel though? That’s the million-dollar question right now.
