A former football player for the University of Tennessee passed way last week, according to a report.
John Bruhin, a former Tennessee football player and Knoxville native, died last Thursday, according to The Knoxville News Sentinel. He was 57 years old. No cause of death has yet been determined.
Bruhin made a name for himself as a high school football recruit in 1982. He went on to become a Volunteer. Bruhin was integral member of the Tennessee offensive line years later. He was also apart of the Tennessee team that went to the Sugar Bowl in 1985.
Bruhin loved Tennessee. In an interview back in 2014, he called it his dream to play for the Volunteers.
“They all knew I was from Knoxville, and I really wanted to play for Coach (Johnny) Majors,” Bruhin told Knox News in a 2014 interview. “I went to all the camps at UT. I always dreamed about playing there, and it happened. I don’t know if many people get to live their dream, but I was able to do it.”
Sadly John Bruhin reportedly passed away last week.

Bruhin became a starting member of Tennessee’s offensive line during the 1985 season. The Volunteers went 9-1-2 that year and earned an invite to the Sugar Bowl where they beat Miami 35-7. He’d go on to start the next two seasons at Tennessee.
