Good news concerning Washington's Carson Wentz

March 14, 2022 by Redskins Wire

In recent days, we’ve heard numerous times how the Colts gave up on Carson Wentz after trading a first-round pick for him.

And how Washington was desperate, traded too much for Wentz, who the Colts would have released if they had to.

How about when there is good news about Carson Wentz?

Wentz had already agreed to speak for free at the Trader’s Point Christian School last week when suddenly Indianapolis and Washington had agreed on a Wentz trade. For two consecutive days, sports news in print, podcasts, radio and TV were deep wells of constant bad press for Wentz. Much of Twitter coverage saw Colts, Eagles and Commanders’ fans dumping all over him.

When he was contacted the afternoon of the trade, evidently Wentz only took five minutes to respond confirming that he would indeed keep his scheduled commitment to come to speak to the students.

While in the midst of everything going on professionally, you kept your commitment to speak to our upper school today. Classy move ⁦@cj_wentz⁩, thank you! https://t.co/aZW4Y75mW7

Speaking to the teen students, Wentz didn’t regurgitate the typical, “You are so special, you have no limitations, you can do whatever you want in life” speech. You know, the speech that is so dishonest, and does nothing to prepare teens for the real world of competition, setbacks, disappointments, rejections, getting laid off and or fired, realizing there are others out there more talented and more skilled than yourself.

No, Wentz told them, “If you are not in a trial, or in the midst of a storm, hold on, because it’s right around the corner…When adversity comes, and we all have it, big or small, it doesn’t matter. When we are going through the challenges, it is tough.”

“That is where my faith is so important. Ok, God, what are you trying to teach me through this moment?… I just got traded; it shocked me, it shocked my family.”

“For me, it is, just take the next right step, because ultimately this is not my life. This is God’s life and I am just living on mission for him.”

On a lighter note, one student asked Wentz who he liked more the Eagles or the Colts. Wentz quickly responded, “The Commanders. It still feels weird to say, I am not gonna lie.”
