It’s easy to get overlooked when surrounded by legends like Tim Duncan, Gregg Popovich and even the great Tony Parker. However, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame knows just how integral Manu Ginobili was to the San Antonio Spurs’ dynasty back in the day.
Per NBA insider Shams Charania, Manu Ginobili is going to be a first-ballot induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. It’s a well-deserved honor for one of the grittiest players the sport has ever seen.
It’s worth a reminder the Hall of Fame doesn’t just recognize NBA excellence, but basketball as a whole. Ginobili famously led Argentina to a gold in the 2004 Olympics, scoring 29 points to knock the USA out in the semifinal round and then beating Italy in the Gold medal game.
Ginobili is also one of the few players to ever win a EuroLeague title, NBA Championship and an Olympic gold.

Manu Ginobili was an absolute menace on defense and sneaky-good when attacking the rim on the other side of the court. You’ll find few NBA players in history capable of creating as much chaos as he did during his basketball career. His effort was off the charts.
Ginobili helped the Spurs win four championships, including wins in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2014. He announced his retirement from the NBA in Aug. of 2018.
