Washington Commanders defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio deleted his Twitter account sometime Saturday, one day after the team fined him $100,000 for his comments earlier in the week calling the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol a “dust-up.”
Del Rio later apologized for his comments.
Del Rio was an active Twitter user over the years, particularly involving current events in the United States. Del Rio was never shy to discuss what he posted on Twitter, and his earlier comments from this week came after he was questioned about one of his tweets.
Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post was the first to notice Del Rio’s Twitter account was gone.

Earlier this week, the state of Virginia tabled the bill for the Commanders to build a new stadium in the Commonwealth. One state senator noted Del Rio’s tweet didn’t help things. However, the bill was already dead after several politicians changed their minds recently.
It’s unknown if Del Rio chose to delete his Twitter or if the team requested him to do so.
