Last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ No. 1 selection of Trevor Lawrence was a forgone conclusion months before the draft. But now with just a few days leading up to this year’s selection progress, the Jags’ top pick is still a mystery.
When asked who the organization will select with the 2022 No. 1 overall pick, Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said “it’s still a work in progress.”
The team apparently has four names in mind for this year’s top pick.
“Jaguars GM Trent Baalke later says they have 4 players in consideration for the No.1 overall pick. He won’t reveal who or what positions. Gotta figure Aiden Hutchinson, Travon Walker & at least one of OTs (Evan Neal, Ikem Ekwonu) are among the group,” ESPN NFL insider Cameron Wolfe reports.
Baalke also said no team has called directly to propose a trade for rights to the No. 1 overall pick.

With some fairly balanced talent at the top of the list, it shouldn’t be too surprising that no team is gunning for the top spot in the draft order. Why trade up if there’s a chance your preferred option falls into your lap?
Given the Jaguars’ need for talent at almost every position group, it’s likely they go with the “best overall” approach in this year’s draft.
Who do you think the Jags should pick up?
