The Jacksonville Jaguars will have a new-look running back rotation next season. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team is releasing veteran running back Carlos Hyde. He’ll hit the free agent market where he’s expected to garner interest.
Urban Meyer and the Jaguars signed Hyde almost a year ago. It was his second go-around with the organization. He carried the rock 72 times for 253 yards and one score in 12 games.
By releasing Hyde, the Jaguars will save almost $2 million in 2022 cap space. Hyde, meanwhile, gets a fresh start.
“Jaguars releasing Carlos Hyde today, per source,” Schefty tweeted.

NFL insider Josina Anderson spoke who Hyde’s agent, who confirmed the release. He added Hyde is excited for a fresh start.
“I spoke to RB Carlos Hyde’s agent @nflagentdan who confirms Hyde is being released from the #Jaguars and adds this on the record: ‘Carlos feels great and he’s looking forward to his next opportunity,’” Anderson tweeted.

The Jaguars are expected to move forward with James Robinson and Travis Etienne Jr., the former Clemson star. As long as both stay healthy, Jacksonville should have a strong rushing attack next season.
Carlos Hyde, meanwhile, is 31 years old and probably eying down his last few years in the league. He’ll have a new home in 2022.
