The rookies get a chance to talk about their first NFL practice
The Washington Commanders had their rookies in yesterday for physicals, and today was the first time they got on the field together to practice. No. 2 overall pick Jayden Daniels is obviously the star of the show for this weekend’s rookie mini-camp, and he got the chance to talk to the media after practice.
Daniels opened up his presser by thanking Tress Way for giving him the #5 jersey, but he wouldn’t go into details on their arrangement to get the number. He’s loving the communication in the QB room, and the opportunity to learn from veterans. Daniels is focused on learning the playbook, and he’s loving working with Kliff Kingsbury and the rest of the coaching staff,
Daniels is going to be himself as he transitions from being the Heisman Trophy winner at LSU to the starting QB of the Washington Commanders. “I’m just gonna be myself…I’m gonna show them I love football and I love the team.” He got a refresher course on the NFL’s gambling policy today, and said the OROY bet he made with his former LSU teammate Malik Nabers for $10,000 has been called off. Welcome to the NFL rook.

Jayden Daniels – “I’m just gonna be myself…I’m gonna show them I love football and I love the team.” Very authentic dude. Also I was standing next to him, the frame doesn’t seem too concerning. My posture seems kinda concerning though pic.twitter.com/sLDO6aQCcu

NFL’s gambling policy:
Jayden Daniels reiterated what Malik Nabers told Giants media earlier: Their $10k bet is off.
“We were uneducated on the gambling policy in the NFL. We learned about it last night, me and him had a conversation … and obviously we don’t want to get in trouble ….”
