Jayden Daniels speaks to the media after practice
Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn announced that Jayden Daniels will be playing in the first preseason game against the New York Jets on Saturday. He spoke with the media after practice and said he was excited to realize his childhood dream of playing in the NFL. Someone mentioned him starting on Saturday, but he only knows that he’s playing in the game. He says he still has things he has to work on, and it’s the coaches decision if and when he will be named the team’s starter.
Daniels was asked about the balance of trying to showcase your talent and make plays vs protecting yourself and knowing when to slide. He knows that it’s a long season and you have to “live to see another play”. He also acknowledged that he’s a competitive guy, so he might take a chance here and there. He admitted that it could be a battle with the coaches as they want him to protect himself on the field.
