Jets Are Eyeing Blockbuster Trade: NFL World Reacts

March 27, 2022 by The Spun

Deebo Samuel runs with the football.

The New York Jets have yet to add a wide receiver this offseason other than re-signing Braxton Berrios. But they’re hoping to fix that with some kind of blockbuster trade in the near future.

According to ESPN Jets insider Rich Cimini, the Jets are “keeping an eye” on wide receivers AJ Brown, Deebo Samuel and DK Metcalf. The team is hoping that one of those three receivers will be available in a trade.

New York tried and failed to land wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Despite reportedly making a strong offer for him, Hill refused to play for the Jets and went to the rival Miami Dolphins instead.

NFL fans have a lot of different opinions on this report that the Jets are trying to make a blockbuster trade for a receiver. Some believe that the Jets have the means to make a deal happen, while others believe they’ll be hard-pressed to get any of those players:

Essentially, if one of those teams cheaps out on the contract, the Jets will pay it. We know they wanted Tyreek. Will be willing to give up the house for one of these guys… https://t.co/NhsDoiQ7eZ

Impossible to know how true this is, but Jets fans would be ecstatic with any of these three https://t.co/OaFZq6Sz1m

Deebo need a to be a Jet. He’s caused the Rams enough stress https://t.co/mNIvfQjuxd

The New York Jets have four picks in the top 40 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft. They have the assets to get almost any player they want.

Their bigger problem may be convincing a star wide receiver to play for them. Just about every team can afford to pay elite wide receiver money these days.

Plus with the state of New Jersey having some of the highest state income taxes in the country, getting more money in a deal doesn’t mean that players can keep the money either.

But if the Jets want to stop being one of the worst offenses in the NFL, they need a legit playmaker. A trade could be coming – whether it’s a good fit or not.
