When the New York Jets take to the field against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, they will be without their leading receiver of the past two years.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Jets head coach Robert Saleh announced that wide receiver Jamison Crowder is officially out for Week 1. Crowder is still on the COVID-19 list after testing positive several days ago.
Over the past two seasons, Crowder has led the Jets in receptions, yards and touchdowns. But he was set to start this season as the No. 2 wide receiver after the team signed Corey Davis in free agency.
The Jets may also be missing No. 3 wide receiver Keelan Cole for that game. He will reportedly be a game-time decision due to a knee issue.
WR Jamison Crowder, still on the COVID-19 list, has been ruled OUT for Sunday, per Robert Saleh.

Wide receiver has been a difficult position for the New York Jets to nail down over the past few years. They’ve had just two 1,000-yard receivers since 2008 – both in 2015.
Granted, the team’s perpetual problems at quarterback are probably the biggest culprit for their struggles at receiver.
The Jets now head into Carolina with Corey Davis as their starter and a lot of uncertainty underneath. They have second-year receiver Denzel Mims and rookie Elijah Moore who will most likely fill the void for Crowder and possibly Cole.
Can the Jets beat the Panthers without two of their top three receivers?
The game will be played at 1 p.m. EST and will air on CBS.
