John Madden’s public memorial was held on Monday.
The late National Football League head coach and commentator passed away at the end of December. The Pro Football Hall of Famer is arguably the most-influential person in the history of the sport.
Madden’s wife, Virginia, spoke at his public memorial in Oakland on Monday evening. She believes the city of Oakland deserves an NFL team.
The Raiders, whom Madden coached, moved out of Oakland and landed in Las Vegas.
“He (John Madden) believed in the Raiders, I believe in the Raiders… the Oakland Raiders… Oakland needs a football team,” Virginia Madden said.

Oakland fans are sure to agree with Mrs. Madden.
However, the National Football League probably needs to expand to 34 or 36 teams in order for the city of Oakland to get a new one.
For now, the Raiders will be in Las Vegas and the city of Oakland will be without a franchise.
