Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar criticized LeBron James during a trophy unveiling this weekend.
Abdul-Jabbar, one of the greatest NBA players of all-time, received a trophy for his social justice efforts. During the ceremony, the Hall of Famer was critical of LeBron.
Earlier this season, Abdul-Jabbar criticized LeBron for his comments on the COVID-19 vaccine. Abdul-Jabbar said he hasn’t had an in-depth discussion with LeBron, but he would be up to it.
“I wouldn’t mind doing it if he would take the time. I definitely got the time,” Abdul-Jabbar said. “I admire the things that he’s done that have gotten all our attention. Sending a whole school to college? Wow. That’s amazing. His thoughtfulness and willingness to back it up with his wallet, you got to give him credit for that.
“So I’m not throwing stones. I just wish he wouldn’t — you know, some of the things he’s done, he should be embarrassed about. That’s just where I’m coming from.”
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar says he’d be willing to meet Lakers’ LeBron James to discuss their differences on issues like vaccine advocacy: “I admire the things he’s done… Sending a whole school to college, wow, that’s amazing… Some of the things he’s done he should be embarrassed by.” pic.twitter.com/0QlNMNUXit

Abdul-Jabbar has been largely positive when it comes to his thoughts on LeBron, but he hasn’t hesitated to criticize him, either.
LeBron missed Sunday’s game against the Nuggets with an injury.
