Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has made the obvious decision on returning senior quarterback Stetson Bennett. The reigning National Champion QB1 will be the Bulldogs’ starting signal caller for the 2022 college football season.
Smart made the “announcement” after Georgia’s spring game on Saturday.
“I don’t have to say it. Our team knows Stetson is our quarterback,” he said, per Bulldogs insider Seth Emerson of The Athletic.
Not sure why it had to be confirmed that the returning starter who won the national championship is still the starter but Kirby Smart, somewhat bemusedly, says:

Bennett, a former walk-on for Smart’s program, took the starting job over former Georgia QB J.T. Daniels early in the Bulldogs’ 2021 season. Through a career-high 14 game appearances, Bennett logged 2,862 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions on an incredibly-efficient 64.5 completion percentage.
In Georgia’s National Championship win over the Alabama Crimson Tide in January, Bennett notched 224 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions on 17/26 passing.
With Daniels heading to West Virginia, the quarterback depth chart behind Bennett consists of redshirt sophomore Carson Beck and redshirt freshman Brock Vandagriff.
