With Kirk Herbstreit reportedly set to become Amazon’s lead NFL analyst for Thursday Night Football, fans are wondering about his future on College GameDay.
The longtime ESPN college football analyst will continue to cover the sport for the network. However, it might be unfair to expect him to continue to work every College GameDay show.
Herbstreit’s travel schedule would be truly insane if that happens. He could have to be in an NFL city on Thursday night, a college city on Saturday morning and a different college city that Saturday night. ESPN’s College GameDay often broadcasts from a different campus than the Saturday night game Herbstreit works.
If Herbstreit keeps both his Saturday duties at ESPN, his travel this fall is going to be INSANE.
Imagine a Thursday night NFL game in Seattle, GameDay Saturday morning in Alabama and Saturday night game at USC. 🤯 https://t.co/bT9nEjtXcL

Awful Announcing’s Ben Koo broached the subject on Twitter on Monday.
If Hebie is really doing TNF and ESPN CFB game of the week, I would have to think that he won’t be a weekly Gameday person (would do it maybe when it’s in same city as game he’s calling).
Herbie being on TV in 3 cities in 72 hours seems very unlikely https://t.co/yfVVTPc8mV

If Herbstreit does become less of a permanent fixture on College GameDay, it will be the end of an era at the Worldwide Leader.
It’ll be interesting to see how ESPN handles Herbstreit’s college football duties moving forward.
