It took a monster night from LeBron James to secure the Lakers first win since the All-Star break. The King dropped 56 on the pourous Golden State Warriors to lift LA to a 124-116 home victory.
James almost single-handedly led the Lakers second-half rally. His 56 points weren’t only the most he’s ever scored in purple and gold. But, his historic night made him the first player ever to have a 50-point game before age 21 and after age 35.

LeBron finished his 56-point night shooting 19-31 from the field, including 6-11 from deep. He also added 10 rebounds and three assists.
Even at age 37, James is still capable of exploding for 50+ points on any given night. Especially when his jumper is going and he starts looking for his own shot.
LeBron remains a freight train on the way to the basket and nearing age 40 he’s got plenty of spring those legs. Evidenced by his dagger of an alley-oop slam in the final minutes.

After the game, King James talked about what fueled this point-scoring outburst:
“Desperation,” LeBron said. “A four-game losing streak, our season has been up and down. I would say desperation and inspiration, we played inspired basketball against a really good team. We needed this win.”
The win helped inch the 28-35 closer to .500 but there’s still a ways to go for the James and the Lakers to climb into playoff position.
