There have been two teams mentioned the most for Baker Mayfield so far this offseason. The Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers have been viewed as two of the frontrunners to trade for the former No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick.
A dark horse team could be lurking, though.
The Detroit Lions are now getting mentioned as a potential landing spot for the former Oklahoma Sooners star.
While the Lions have yet to confirm the speculation, the team is reportedly looking into some top NFL Draft quarterbacks. If they’re considering moving on from Jared Goff, perhaps Mayfield will come into play.
Pro Football Talk is on board:
If the Lions are thinking about Mayfield, they’re keeping their cards close to the vest. But they should be thinking about him. He had two solid seasons. He could still be a very good NFL quarterback. And he would give the Lions their first quarterback with genuine, in-your-face swagger since Bobby Layne.
So let’s do it, Lions. For years after Dorsey welcomed his buddy boy Baker onto the Browns, Dorsey should be chomping bubblegum in the ear of anyone with the Lions who will listen to him.
Will the Lions eventually make a play for Baker Mayfield? (They should.) https://t.co/NSrFEozyNB

A lot of Lions fans, though, are not.
Lions fans, are we all in agreement that we absolutely DON’T want Baker Mayfield as our QB.

Not everyone agrees, though.
“He’s 1000% better than Goff,” one fan tweeted.
“Yes and no. Doesn’t seem to make sense with the rebuild but if they could get him for virtually nothing and he’s clearly motivated to prove himself……why not?” another fan added.
