Bob Harrison, a former NFL scout and assistant coach, passed away at the age of 80 on Friday.
“He died from from complications from a stroke,” Harrison’s wife, Faye Harrison, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Harrison’s coaching experience spans 33 years and three levels: high school, college and NFL. He was an assistant coach for the University of Georgia from 1988-91 and wide receivers coach at Boston College 1994-96. He also notched two stints as an assistant at North Carolina State and seven seasons with the Tennessee Volunteers.
Harrison was the Falcons’ wide receivers coach from 1983-86 and spent two seasons as an assistant for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1992-93.

In addition to his coaching career, he also took the field as an All-MAC wide receiver at Kent State in the early 1960s.
In 14th season as a scout for the Falcons, Harrison was recognized the 2011 NFC Scout of the Year by the Fritz Pollard Alliance.
