On Wednesday, former Alabama wideout Jameson Williams sparked a heated discussion about Georgia football’s College Football Playoff National Championship win over the Crimson Tide. He said that Alabama would have won the game had he not gotten injured.
“I felt like we would’ve won the game,” Williams said, via Mike Rodak of AL.com. “Just — things happen, you know.”
Williams’ comments have set off a heated debate within the college football world. During his NFL Scouting Combine interview on Thursday, Georgia offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer responded to the former Alabama star and kept thigs simple.
“Game’s over. We scored more points,” Salyer said.

That’s about the best response the former Georgia football player could have had. The scoreboard says it all.
Georgia’s title win was remarkable for a number of reasons. Most notably, Alabama beat the Bulldogs 41-24 about a month earlier in the SEC Championship Game. Salyer added that he thinks Georgia simply “wasted plays,” and that ultimately led to the big loss.
“We had a lot of wasted plays. … it wasn’t as if they just whooped us,” he added.
Georgia was fortunate enough to still earn an invite to the College Football Playoff. The Dawgs whooped on No. 3 Michigan 34-11 in the playoff semi-final and went on to beat the Crimson Tide 33-18 in the championship.
