Move over, LSU and Ohio State. Georgia football has set the record for most players taken in a single, seven-round NFL Draft with 15 selections. The Buckeyes (2004) and Tigers (2020) held the previous record at 14.
Georgia is coming off its first national championship since 1980. It was littered with ridiculous talent, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. Five Georgia defensive players were taken in the first round alone.
The Bulldogs set the new record in the sixth round on Saturday afternoon. The Los Angeles Rams selected cornerback Derion Kendrick at pick No. 212. One pick later, the Falcons took tight end John Fitzpatrick. That put the number of Georgia draftees at 15.

Funny enough, Smart didn’t think 15 was a realistic number before the 2022 NFL Draft.
“Our job is to develop them and make sure they’re better people when they leave,” Smart said at UGA Pro Day in March, via OnlineAthens.com. “I think each one of these kids will tell you they’re more successful because of the work ethic they were able to achieve here. We had some really good coaches to help coach them up and some really good players to help play. And I think it’s very unique to have this kind of collection of talent. You don’t have that every year.”
It’s going to be interesting to see how Georgia replaces so much talent next season.
