The Boston Celtics may have won Game 1 of their series against the rival Brooklyn Nets, but former Celtic Kyrie Irving stole the show. And LeBron James took notice.
Kyrie had 39 points against the Celtics in today’s 115-114 loss. It was a repeat of his last playoff performance against the Celtics at TD Garden in Game 4 of the 2021 NBA Playoffs.
To call LeBron James impressed with Kyrie Irving might be an understatement. Taking to Twitter, LeBron called Kyrie “Young God-rie” and praised his “insane skill.”
“Young God-rie is so damn good at basketball man!!! INSANE SKILL!!” LeBron tweeted.

Ultimately, a missed Kevin Durant three-pointer (his fourth of the day) opened the door for the Celtics to win on a layup. But it seems unlikely that Durant will be as off his game for the entire series as he was in this one.
And if Durant gets back on track while Kyrie is playing as well as he is now, the Nets will bounce back in a big way.
But whether this performance turns out to be Kyrie’s last big game in this playoff series or not, the message is clear. Kyrie is still one of the best scorers in the NBA and on his best day can give the best teams a run for their money.
Will Kyrie replicate this performance against the Celtics at the Barclays Center this week?
