Patriots quarterback Mac Jones will have a new weapon at his disposal for the 2022 season. On Saturday, the team acquired wide receiver DeVante Parker in a trade with the Dolphins.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dolphins are sending Parker and a 2022 fifth-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for a 2023 third-round pick.
Parker became expendable for the Dolphins once they acquired All-Pro wideout Tyreek Hill in a blockbuster trade with the Chiefs.
Shortly after the trade was announced, Jones went on Twitter to welcome his newest teammate to New England.
“Let’s go!! Welcome to NEP! @DeVanteParker11,” Jones tweeted.

Parker finished the 2021 season with 40 receptions for 515 yards and two touchdowns. It was a down year for the Louisville product.
During his entire run with the Dolphins, Parker had 338 receptions for 4,727 yards and 24 touchdowns. His best season came in 2019 with Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback.
Even though Parker is coming off a down year, the Patriots have to be thrilled about this trade. Their offense needed a playmaker at wide receiver, and Parker could be a nice option for Jones this fall – especially if he reverts to his 2019 form.
