On Saturday, Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson took to Twitter to wish his longtime friend/former teammate Kareem Abdul-Jabbar a happy 75th birthday.
Johnson, who entered the league 11 seasons after Abdul-Jabbar, is 13 years younger than the league’s all-time leading scorer.
“Happy 75th birthday to a legend, champion, Hall of Famer and my Showtime teammate @kaj33! Have a magical day!” Johnson wrote.

When Johnson was selected by the Lakers with the No. 1 overall pick in the 1979 NBA Draft, Abdul-Jabbar already had 10 NBA seasons and nine All-Star selections under his belt. In their first season together, Magic and Kareem averaged a whopping combined 42.8 points, 20.5 rebounds and 11.8 assists per game.
Through their 10 seasons together in Los Angeles, this dynamic duo brought the Lakers franchise five NBA Championships.
Happy birthday Kareem!
