The world’s best players flocked to TPC Sawgrass this week for one of the biggest tournaments of the season.
The Players Championship brought major names like Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy onto the course this week. Unfortunately, the incredible tournament has been altered by nasty weather conditions.
Despite starting the tournament on Thursday morning, the first round of competition still hasn’t been completed as of Saturday morning. Heavy rains and thunderstorms have marred the weekend thus far.
However, there is some good news. On Saturday morning, the PGA Tour announced play will resume at 12:00 p.m. ET.
“THE PLAYERS Championship will resume at noon ET,” PGA Tour Communications said in a tweet on Saturday morning. “Second round tee times First wave: noon-2:01 p.m. Second wave: 5-7:01 p.m (approx.).”

Gary Young, the chief referee of The Players, admitted the tournament will not finish on Sunday and will at least stretch until Monday.
“Unfortunately, the weather conditions are not providing us any relief,” Young said. “Our desire is to not have anyone on the property at that time. We are into a Monday finish. We know that.”
Will the full 72-hole tournament be played or will the PGA Tour shorten it to just 54 holes after all the nasty weather?
We’ll find out soon.
