Mel Kiper has evaluated thousands of prospects covering the NFL Draft since 1984. One quarterback, in particular, stands out among the rest in his eyes.
Kiper’s highest-rated quarterback of all-time is none other than Stanford grad John Elway.
“In my final evaluation, Elway received the highest grades one can achieve in all categories,” Kiper said, via ESPN.com. “He has no discernible weaknesses and is the prototype QB. Without question Elway is a can’t-miss All-Pro NFL QB who has the ability to make a place for himself in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”
Interestingly enough, another Stanford alum checks in at No. 2 on Kiper’s highest-rated quarterbacks of all-time. That happens to be Andrew Luck.
“Luck has it all — size, incredible smarts, accuracy, and a great work ethic,” Kiper wrote. “I compare him a lot to Peyton Manning, but Luck is more athletic. Because of this, the expectations for Luck will be through the roof. He has the overall makeup to deal with that type of pressure and go on to enjoy a career that lives up to all the hype.”
No quarterbacks in this year’s draft class crack Mel Kiper’s list. But there’s still a few talented quarterback prospects out there.
Kiper is a big fan of Liberty quarterback Malik Willis leading up to the 2022 NFL Draft. Kenny Pickett checks in at No. 2 on his list.
