Colin Kaepernick has been out of the NFL since the 2016 season, but he hasn’t given up hope that he could return to the league someday.
On Thursday, Kaepernick posted a video of him working out. ESPN insider Adam Schefter then reported that Kaepernick is “in the best shape of his life.”
“He wants to play. He’s ready play,” one source told Schefter. “He would be a great fit for teams with QB vacancies to fill who want to win a Super Bowl.”
Despite that claim, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk isn’t very confident we’ll see Kaepernick back in the NFL. As a matter of fact, he believes there’s “no way” a team will sign the former 49ers quarterback.
“It’s over for Colin Kaepernick,” Florio wrote. “There’s no way that any team will sign him at this point, not after he has gone half of a decade without playing football of any kind.”
Even if Colin Kaepernick truly wants to play in the NFL at this point (I personally doubt he does), the NFL’s ability to shun Kaepernick for five full years makes a return at this point impossible. https://t.co/rYCY3aX5tK

During his time with the 49ers, Kaepernick had 12,271 passing yards, 72 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions.
While it seems unlikely that Kaepernick will return to the NFL, never say never. After all, there are some teams in the league in desperate need of help at quarterback.
