Brian Flores has been through a lot since his questionable firing from the Miami Dolphins.
Following his dismissal from the franchise, Flores filed a class-action lawsuit against the Dolphins, Giants and Broncos alleging discrimination in the hiring process; as well as claims that Miami ownership attempted to incentivize him to tank games for a top draft pick.
Last month, Flores was brought on by Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers as an assistant. And on Sunday, Tomlin opened up about his relationship with the Bill Belichick disciple.
“I wanted to stay close to Brian when his legal issues started. I just didn’t want him to feel like he was on an island,” Tomlin said via ESPN’s Brooke Pryor. “From a coaching fraternity standpoint, I owed him that. … I was in position to provide that.”

The Steelers were one of a few teams to actually give Flores a chance following his legal action against the NFL. Similarly to Colin Kaepernick, Brian Flores easily could’ve found himself on the outside looking in of the league he once called home.
But Pittsburgh recognized his talents as a defensive mind; and in-turn Mike Tomlin added one of the better coaches in the game to his staff, while also standing by a fellow black coach that’s more than qualified have a head job of his own.
Flores will coach up the linebackers while also serving as a senior defensive assistant.
