Angels manager Joe Maddon shocked a ton of people on Friday night with his decision to intentionally walk Rangers shortstop Corey Seager with the bases loaded, including All-Star outfielder Mike Trout.
Thankfully, the camera crew for Bally Sports caught Trout’s reaction the moment the Angels walked Seager. Let’s just say he was quite confused as to what just happened.
Trout looked around to see if the Angels intentionally walked a run in. It was a true moment of realization for the three-time MVP.
watching Mike Trout process that there are indeed runners at first, second, and third as this is happening is just incredible https://t.co/EZDDYQVDgP

This was the third time in the past 70 years that a player was intentionally walked with the bases loaded. The last time this happened was in 2008.
Following the win over the Rangers, Maddon opened up about how this decision came about.
“I thought by walking Seager there, of course, just trying to stay out of a big blow,” Maddon said, via ESPN. “And also just to stir the group up, quite frankly. I walked out there and looked at [Warren]. I said, ‘How ’bout …’ and then he kind of said, ‘Putting him on.’ I said, ‘Yeah, how ’bout putting him on?’ And he kind of smiled. And then the infielders kind of dug it, too.”
Next time the Angels are facing a situation where the bases are loaded, we can’t rule out the possibility of them intentionally walking in a run.
