Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has weighed in on if he would draft Bronny James, the eldest son of LeBron James.
Cuban spoke to Sportsgrid and confirmed that it’s unlikely he’d burn a second-round pick to draft him, though it all comes down to how good he is at the time.
“I don’t know,” Cuban said. “It depends on the circumstances and how good Bronny is. Would I just burn (a second-round pick) just to burn it? Probably not. And again, we’ll have this guy named Luka (Doncic) who is really, really good. And so it would really depend on the team that we have around him.”
James is expected to be part of the 2024 NBA Draft, though that could change if he decides to go the college route.
Right now, James is listed as a four-star recruit and the fourth-best player in California. He’s also the sixth-best combo guard recruit and the No. 34 overall recruit in 2023, per 247Sports Composite.
If Cuban were to draft James, that would mean that his father would likely play with him. He’s gone on the record to say that he’d like to play with his son for one season.
LeBron James’ message to all 30 teams is clear: If you want me, draft Bronny.
“Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.” @KingJames

We’ll have to see where James’ son goes in a couple of years.
