The NCAA has made a decision on UNC defensive lineman Tomari Fox’s appeal of his one-year suspension.
The NCAA suspended Fox late last year for one year for using a banned substance. The announcement was made before the 2021 Duke’s Mayo Bowl between the Tar Heels and South Carolina Gamecocks.
Fox appealed, stating he was unaware the pre-workout supplement he took contained a banned substance. Unfortunately, his appeal has been denied.
Fox will be suspended for the 2022 season. He will be allowed to return for the postseason.
“Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in the 2022 football season for reasons I cannot control,” Fox said in a statement released by the school. “I’m disappointed in the decision, but I remain hopeful for the future. I will continue to give my all to Tar Heel Nation both on and off the field.”
Fortunately, Fox will be allowed to continue training and even practicing with the team. He just won’t be allowed to play in any games.
The North Carolina defensive lineman can return for the 2022 postseason.
