Clint Capela had to leave the Atlanta Hawks‘ play-in game against the Cleveland Cavaliers early due to a right knee injury. On Saturday, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski had the latest on Capela’s status.
The MRI results for Capela showed no structural damage to his knee. However, he’s expected to miss a “significant” amount of time in the Hawks’ first-round playoff series.
Capela will be evaluated again in roughly a week. The Hawks are certainly hoping that he can return to the court before their series against the Miami Heat comes to an end.
Losing a two-way player like Capela will certainly hurt the Hawks’ chances in the first round. He averaged 11.1 points and 11.9 rebounds per game in the regular season.
MRI on Atlanta Hawks center Clint Capela’s right knee revealed no structural damage and he’s expected to be evaluated again in a week, sources tell ESPN. He will clearly miss significant time in this Hawks-Heat playoff series, if he’s even able to return before it’s over.

With Capela out for at least a few playoff games, the Hawks will need Gorgui Dieng and Onyeka Okongwu to step up.
Of course, the Hawks will also need Trae Young to continue putting up All-Star numbers in the postseason.
Game 1 between the Hawks and Heat is on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
