For months now, most mock drafts have had the Jacksonville Jaguars selecting Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson first overall. However, in Peter Schrager’s latest mock for NFL.com, Schrags has the Jags going in a different direction.
In Mock 2.0, Georgia defensive lineman Travon Walker is slated to be off the board at No. 1.

The “Good Morning Football” host explained himself in the article:
“I’m told by people in the know that the decision on this pick is far from made,” Schrager said. “With less than two weeks to go, the Jaguars are still building their board. The fact that it remains a debate makes me think Trent Baalke is leaning toward Walker.”
In turn, Schrager has the Detroit Lions taking the hometown Hutchinson at two.
Over the course of a few short weeks, Walker has seen his stock rise from mid-to-late first-round pick, to top five prospect. The Georgia standout has really nice measurables as a big, rugged run-stopper.

Typically, those types of ends don’t go as high in the first-round due to it being a passing league. But, some think Walker has the physical attributes and ability to develop into a threat off the edge.
The 2022 NFL Draft is just nine days away.
