The Washington Commanders began the 2024 season near the bottom of almost every NFL power rankings. Some were higher on Washington than others, but the Commanders often resided from anywhere between 24 and 30.
The Commanders didn’t help themselves in Week 1, falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37-20. The NFL debut of Jayden Daniels had its ups and downs, but for the most part, the rookie was impressive. He missed some throws by taking off early in the pocket to avoid pressure. That helped him finish the game with 88 rushing yards and two touchdowns, though.
The defense, well, it looked a lot like the version that ranked dead last in 2023.
Not many believed the Commanders would beat the Buccaneers, but most believed the game would’ve been more competitive. Despite the final score, Washington missed several opportunities to change the game. For those who didn’t watch the game and only saw the score, though, the Commanders looked like one of the NFL’s worst teams in Week 1.
How does that impact them in this week’s power rankings roundup? Let’s find out.
